Welcome to the International Women's and Children's Health and Gender Group (InWomen)

 

Mission Statement: 

 

The International Women’s and Children’s Health and Gender group is a multidisciplinary forum that addresses all aspects of the consequences of substance use. The forum members will:

(1) Share findings about the consequences of substance use, abuse and risk behaviors, and the benefits of prevention, intervention and treatment,

(2) Maintain sensitivity to family, culture and equity within an international context,

(3) Forge future collaborations and research agendas, and

(4) Identify additional activities to promote successful and empowering research with these vulnerable populations across the lifespan.

 

Approved by InWomen Committee, January 7, 2009

 

Herstory: The InWomen group began in 2009 with a symposium at the NIDA International Forum focusing on women's issues. After crafting a mission statement, the members began planning activities to enhance networkinga nd to promote the mission statement agenda by organizing a yearly conference. There are now over 200 members from 37 countries:
